The Fulbright Commission has opened applications for its scholarship programs for the 2027/2028 academic year. The scholarships offer students, researchers, lecturers, and professionals opportunities for study and research stays in the United States.
The Fulbright Scholarship for Scholars and Lecturers is intended for researchers and university lecturers and supports research or teaching stays in the United States lasting 3–10 months. Applicants are required, among other things, to hold a Ph.D., submit a strong research proposal, and have an invitation from a U.S. institution. The application deadline is November 1, 2026.
Academics who, in addition to their professional work, are actively involved in academic or public life may apply for the Fulbright-Masaryk Scholarship. The program is open to junior, postdoctoral, and senior researchers. The application deadline is also November 1, 2026.
For fields in which a Ph.D. is not typically considered the standard terminal degree—such as the arts, curatorial studies, creative writing, or journalism—the Fulbright Scholarship for Professionals is available. Applicants must hold at least a master’s degree and have seven years of relevant professional experience. The application deadline is November 1, 2026.
The Fulbright Commission also offers programs for students and Ph.D. candidates, as well as the Fulbright-Schuman Scholarship, which focuses on research related to the EU and transatlantic relations. In addition, Czech universities can take advantage of opportunities to host U.S. academics for both short-term and long-term stays.
