One of Palacký University’s key activities is ‘internationalisation’, i.e. promoting cooperation with foreign universities (joint projects, programmes, etc.). These activities are set out in cooperation agreements. One such important activity is the promotion of exchanges involving students, academic staff and administrative staff. Agreements exist at various levels: departmental, faculty and university (Erasmus+, CEEPUS – so-called direct cooperation agreements); however, students may also go on exchange programmes through the Czech Republic’s international agreements (government scholarships). A common feature of these agreements is that they provide participants in mobility programmes with certain benefits arising from their stay abroad: first and foremost, they are exempt from paying tuition fees; furthermore, some agreements may provide for the reimbursement of travel expenses (for recipients of scholarships under Czech government agreements), whilst others may provide financial support for studying abroad, etc.
If the Faculty of Arts at the University of Palacký has not signed an agreement with a foreign higher education institution, this does not mean that student or academic mobility cannot take place at that institution. It can, but the foreign higher education institution will probably require applicants to pay, for example, various fees that they would not have to pay under the terms of the signed agreements (tuition fees, etc.).
