Invitation to a meeting of the academic community and all employees of the Faculty of Arts

Monday 22 April 2024, 11:01

Dear colleagues, dear students,

I am writing to you today to invite you to a meeting of the academic community and all employees of our Faculty. I am holding this meeting together with the Chairperson of the Academic Senate, Dr. Ondřej Molnár, and the Chairperson of the Trade union, Dr. František Kratochvíl. The meeting will take place in the auditorium at Křížkovského 10 on Tuesday, 30 April at 1:15 pm.

Since the previous meeting of the academic community, which was related to the Hour of Truth protest movement, a number of developments have occurred that we wish to report to you. In addition, we must discuss the future activities of the faculty and the wider university sphere.

While we have advanced many of our demands and ideas at the local and national levels, we believe that the current status of our disciplines remains undervalued. Furthermore, we believe that the government of the Czech Republic is not fulfilling its agenda in this regard.

Furthermore, we will address the involvement of the student community in Faculty affairs and are open to other suggestions from the audience on other topics.

I would like to extend my best wishes to you all for the end of the semester. I would also like to express my gratitude to the AFO Festival, which is primarily based on the great work of our students and alumni. I hope to see you soon.

Jan Stejskal, Dean of the Faculty
