136 SUNSETS IN JAPAN
Study stay at the Kyoto Sangyo University, Japan, FREEMOVER Scholarship Fund of the Faculty of Arts UP, WS 2023/2024
Japan is often referred to as the land of the rising sun. Not only is this a phrase that is overly associated with Japan, I myself find it to be out of touch with reality. In my entire stay in Japan, I have seen only two sunrises, and 136 sunsets. Japan has become more of a land of sunsets. The sunset sun had for me important symbol. Significantly for me end of another happy day. Whether I watched it on my way to my dorm from campus, which had a wide view of beautiful Kyoto and the mountains that surround it. Or as I walked the beaches of Kamakura, near Tokyo, watching the sun set, highlighting the silhouette of Mount Fuji against a horizon painted in purple and fire. Whether I watched alone in silence or surrounded by laughter among friends. It was always the end for me, the last point of a happy day in Japan, one of 136. Among some of my fondest memories are just sunsets collected in different parts of Japan. Whether you go to Japan on your own or on a study trip through the Freemover+ program, as I did, I recommend you also check out the sunsets in Japan. They are one of the pearls of the Japanese landscape, a pearl that costs you a minimum of money and only a moment of your time.
UPík also saw many sunsets with me in this way, among others. His presence made not only me happy, but also my friends, who also considered him a fundamental part of our study and travel group. Even the school staff took a liking to him. Thus, he became not only the mascot of Palacký University Olomouc in Japan, but also the mascot of my time spent in this distant country. It was a pleasure to experience the daily joys of studying with him and to show him the various beautiful places in the land of tea, rice and sunsets. Hopefully, his photographs from Japan will show you snippets of my 136 Japanese sunsets. (AM)
