Study stay at the University of Fribourg, Swiss Confederation, WS 2024/2025
As part of my studies in andragogy, I had the opportunity to spend five months studying in Switzerland, specifically at the University of Fribourg. Fribourg is a small town in western Switzerland, but it has a large university. You will meet students from all over the world here. As Fribourg is located on the border between the French- and German-speaking parts of the country, you can choose which language you want to take your courses in. The University of Fribourg offers a wide range of courses and has beautiful facilities that provide a pleasant atmosphere for studying.
Outside of school, Fribourg has a lot of places for young people to hang out, including bars and cafes, but... it's not exactly cheap. I found it more meaningful to spend my free time in the beautiful surrounding countryside - in the land of mountains. Thanks to excellent rail connections, you can get from Fribourg to the Alps in an hour. During my stay, I walked hundreds of kilometers, encountered hundreds of alpine animals, and filled my photo gallery with pictures that I really enjoy looking back on. All cheese lovers will also find something to enjoy in Switzerland, and I highly recommend sharing a classic fondue with new friends. Just be careful not to drop your baguette into the cheese, or you'll have to pay for the whole table, as is customary. ;-)
Nice people, mountains, lakes, the opportunity to improve my language skills, and beautiful weather throughout the winter semester – all this made my stay an unforgettable experience that I greatly appreciate. (BS)
